Connecting makes us smarter

There's a smart new tool under development that could strengthen what you might call the policy infrastructure for taking America back. It has the potential to capture the brightest ideas we can co-create together. According to the project's initial website
Democracylab is a non-partisan, non-profit website built upon the idea that technology can enable us to harness freedom of speech and the power of the vote in ways never before possible.
See what they're up to.

WOW! This is AMBITIOUS!

The website is a bit confusing to navigate through but I can see how this project could be not only a great tool to voice one's opinions but at the same time a great way for public servants and elected officials to get a general consesus on issues that are important to the voting public.

Not to sound too much like a Pollyanna but imagine a time when someone on a local or community level could post on this site, capture data from the public in real time and be able to get a sense of where voters stand on an issue.

On a micro level, how great would it be if let's say Mayor Quimby, could post online and see the town's input on whether or not a traffic light is needed on the corner of Main Street and Traffic Avenue?

On a macro level I can see news organizations and pollsters using this website model to get a sense of what issues are important to people and what people are concerned about.

The true test of a site of this type is whether or not people will use it, but imagine a kiosk in a public library or town center where you could walk by, login and make your voice heard!
